Micro-histories / micro-analyses of the social: a multidisciplinary series

Over recent decades the interrogation of scales of analysis in social sciences has been revived by the success of global perspectives. However, ambiguities remain: do micro- or macro-analyses apply to phenomena of differing size or to distinct perspectives and approaches to the subject? If so, what are the research methods and tools of these approaches, particularly the micro-analytical perspectives?
Starting from these questions, we propose a series of four seminars with historians, sociologists and anthropologists on the theme “Micro-histories / micro-analyses of the social”. These sessions present interdisciplinary dialogues on the implementation of this method of analysis in our research fields. This “pooling” of positions provides an introduction to each speaker’s own seminars.
