Initiation into the contemporary history of the Russian worlds: from 1905 to the fall of the USSR

Typical topics are the following: the place of wars in Soviet history, mass repression and forced displacement of population, marginality and dissidence, consumption and scarcity, justice and trials, Gulag geography and economy, artistic institutions and circles, history of nationalities, interpretations of the fall of the USSR.

The sessions comprise a presentation of the research questions and historiographical discussions of the theme, and the collective discussion of an article and documents (written and visual) proposed by the session leader and consulted by students beforehand.
